Feed Hygiene Regulations - do you need to register?
With effect from 1st January 2008 the majority of farms and businesses which produce or use animal feed will be required to comply with the EC Feed Hygiene Regulations (183/2005).
Who does it affect?
If you are a livestock farmer who uses purchased, or home produced feed or mixes feed without additives then you will need to send a statement of compliance to your local Trading Standards office before 1st January 2008.
If you are an arable farmer who grows and/or sells crops for use in livestock feed you will need to send a statement of compliance to your local Trading Standards office before 1st January 2008.
If you are a farmer who mixes feeds on farm with additives and premixtures (such as vitamins A and D and trace elements (copper, selenium, zinc etc)) or mixes feeds on farm with compound feedingstuffs which contain additives, you will not need to send a statement of compliance to your local Trading Standards office provided you are already registered under previous legislation and have notified your local authority. If in doubt please contact your local Trading Standards.
If you need a Statement of Compliance you can download a copy from the Members page or alternatively call Genesis QA on 01283 791400 and we will send a copy to you.
