“The Pig Producer of the Year Award is the first award our Company has ever won and is a tremendous honour of which we are all extremely proud. We are particularly delighted to have won the award given where we have come from over the last three years and the difficult trading conditions we have all experienced in the pig trade during this period. As a Company, we pride ourselves on our excellent health and welfare standards and it’s very satisfying to know that our efforts have been recognised by the RSPCA, Sainsbury’s, Cranswick and the Award judges.
Achieving Freedom Food status in 2008 was undoubtedly a mile stone in the Company’s history. We achieved accreditation of all our outdoor pig production which takes in all breeding, nursery and finishing units within a 6 month period. This demanded a lot of hard work from our staff in a short period of time and I cannot thank them and our farmer colleagues enough for their commitment to making it an undoubted success.
